Our Process

From Concept to Finished Installation

Congratulations. You’ve made the right choice choosing engineered stone for your new benchtops. But what is actually involved in bringing your vision to life? How does your concept go from being in your head to being installed in your home as a finished engineered stone benchtop? Allow Brisbane Stone to take you through our process and explain just what you can expect when you choose to work with us and what makes us your best local stone benchtop supplier.

What is Engineered Stone?

Engineered stone is known by a few different names. In the construction and benchtop industry engineered stone benchtops are commonly called quartz benchtops and in the residential market they are frequently referred to by the leading brand name, Caesarstone benchtops. Other names you may have heard are composite stone benchtops, reconstituted stone benchtops, or manufactured stone benchtops, to name a few.

Engineered stone is a composite material made up of crushed stone which is then bound together with pigments and resins to create a durable surface. When used in benchtops engineered stone is predominantly made up of quartz (usually 90-95%) however with more and more research coming out around the dangers of silicosis, the industry is quickly moving to replace the quartz with substitutes such as glass.

Smartstone is a brand leading the way in this space and is a good product to consider if sustainability and safety are concerns of yours. Find out more about Stone Ambassador’s range of low silica engineered stone. Read more about the history, use and pros and cons of engineered stone benchtops.

Choosing the Right Stone

Selecting the right stone for your project can be a daunting task, especially these days with so many suppliers having so many choices available. A good place to start is by viewing some of our key supply partner’s options. What is most important is that you have a range of options in mind.

This range could either be particular colour or a particular look (marble look, faux concrete, so something with a bit of fleck and sparkle) or a particular brand (Caesarstone, Smartstone, YDL etc.) or that your new / replacement engineered stone benchtop has certain properties (outdoor stable, lightweight or a more affordable engineered stone).

Anything that you can do to narrow the scope is going to save you time and frustration. Once you have gone as far as you feel you can however, it is time to get in touch with Brisbane Stone.

You have two choices :-

If you have all your information and are ready to submit a quote request, you can complete our quote request form now to get the ball rolling.

If you require further assistance contact us here to get in touch. We will make an appointment to meet you either in person, over the phone or online conferencing. Here we will show you samples, in person, in the comfort of your own home or at our showroom.

Better still, make a time for you to meet our key supply partners at their showrooms (most are located at Yatala) where in most cases you can view full slabs of the stone, which we believe is the best way to finalise your selection.

What Trades do I need to organise?

Benchtop installations usually require additional trades to be involved, such as plumbers and electricians. In the case of a replacement bench top sinks and cooktops will need to be disconnected prior to the new benchtop being installed.

Once the new benchtop is installed your electrician and or plumber will need to return to reconnect the services.
